Loose Fill Asbestos Insulation9741196
Do I have it? If your house was constructed in the 60s or 70s then there is a potential you may have LFAI in your ceiling space. A recent project by Fair Trading and the NSW government has identified a number of affected properties across NSW. For statistics please visit this website.
Please note the LFAI cannot be confirmed by a visual inspection. There are other types of non-asbestos insulation products that have been used extensively in ceiling spaces.
What Should I do? An inspection of your ceiling space, including sample testing by a competent person, such as a Licensed Asbestos Assessor (LAA), and subsequent analysis by a NATA accredited laboratory is the only way to confirm the presence of LFAI.
Hygiene Risk Australia Pty Ltd can perform these services for you. We have been a lead contractor working alongside large Environmental Consultancies for the past year, and have inspected around 1000 ceiling spaces.
Our friendly team will book in your inspection, and an experienced asbestos consultant will attend your property and conduct the inspection and sampling under controlled conditions. We will then issue a concise report for you to keep.
Do I need to have my home checked? A number of new laws have been introduced to identify properties affected by loose-fill asbestos insulation (LFAI) and to protect residents, workers and communities on the risk of LFAI. Changes include warnings from councils on planning certificates and also property sales.
